Coach Rob Havard has been coaching the game of soccer for 15 years. He has coached on both the boy’s and girl’s side. Coach Havard currently holds the NSCAA Advanced National Diploma as well as a National B level license. Currently he is the Head Coach at James M. Coughlin High School, where he has been the last 7 years. Coughlin has accumulated 109 wins, 23 loses, and 4 ties during that time. They have also won 2 Wyoming Valley Division 1 Championships, 2 PIAA District Two Championships, 3 PIAA District Two Finals, and 3 times qualified for the PIAA State Championship Tournament. Over the last 5 years Coughlin has had a player qualify for the All-State team as well as two of those players being named to the NSCAA All-Region Team.
Before coaching at Coughlin Coach Havard had coached at Pittston Area High School and Scranton Prepatory School. At Scranton Prep Coach Havard assisted fellow Upper 90 Coach Sean Curry where they helped guide Scranton Prep to their first PIAA District Two Championship in school history as well as winning the Lackawanna League Championship that same year and qualifying for the state tournament.
Along the 15 year journey he has spent time in Europe and also coached at some of the local Soccer Clubs in North East PA. He has been on staff at Coerver Coaching America, PA State Director for the National Goalie Wars Association and is currently on staff for YSC Summer Elite Camps and is the Director of Soccer Operations for the State Games of America which covers the whole country. In 2010 Coach Havard founded Upper 90 Soccer Training Academy and has become the fastest growing soccer club in the area.
Since 2010 Upper 90 has won several tournaments, Pennsylvania Indoor State Cup Championships, Pennsylvania Outdoor State Cup (President’s Cup) Championships, and qualified for regionals. Upper 90 has also sent over 30 former players to play at the college level since 2010. Most recently he has been brought in to help with forming a Semi-Professional Soccer Team in the Scranton Area named Electric City Shock. Coach Havard resides in Plains, PA., with his wife Kim, daughter Tenley, and son Landon.
